I am shooting the Dew Tour today and enjoying the hell out of it. Pics of all the insanity will be posted soon! The Toyota Challenge is the 3rd stop on the Dew Tour this year in Salt Lake City, UT. For those of you that couldn’t make the trip to catch the insanity you can watch it on TV!

Toyota Challenge September 8-11: Salt Lake City, Utah

NBC Sports

Saturday September 10. 4-6 pm.

Sunday September 11. 4-6 pm.

USA

MTV 2

Friday September 16. 9-10 am.

Friday September 23. 9-10 am.

About the Dew Tour:

The Dew Tour was established in 2005 as the world’s premier season-long action sports tour. It

boasts four events as well as more than $2 million in event and bonus purses, awarded at yearend

based on overall tour standings. NBC and MTV, along with USA Network, are the broadcast

homes of the Dew Tour, combining for over 46 hours of Tour coverage, the largest on the action

sports scene.

For the first time in the Tour’s history, each stop will highlight a particular combination of events,

which together with specialty competitions, provides a unique and fresh experience for each host

city. In addition to the primary sports of skateboarding and BMX, the 2011 season will feature

FMX, skateboard bowl and surf competitions. All four stops will include entertainment festivals,

music concerts and various other lifestyle elements that cover over one million square feet in both

indoor and outdoor venues.

In its seventh year, the Dew Tour is the most watched and attended action sports property in the

world. The Tour’s broadcasts reaches 61 countries and 185 million homes worldwide. This year,

top athletes in the world will take part in the Tour, all competing for the highly coveted Dew Cup,

which will be awarded in Las Vegas at season’s end to a champion in each of the five disciplines

(skate street and vert; BMX park, vert and dirt).

That’s right Junk Punch!

Junk Punch is headed up by 94-9 Z-Rock morning show host Marcus in the Morning. I have to admit, this band is nothing what I expected, they’re actually damn good, and I’ll bet if you caught them playing at a club around Utah it would be a non-stop party!

They play all covers and know how to get a crowd going. They do have one original called “Pudgy Princess” which when played live was accompanied by a ‘Snookie on Steroids’ dancing on the stage, with a jealous Pickle. I am so happy I have no clue what the hell that means because I have not seen the Jersey Shore!

Words can’t describe how much I dig this band! Both live and in the studio they are a breath of fresh air! Matt Pinfield should be featuring them every week on MTV’s 120 Minutes, and you should make sure and catch them at the Sunset Strip Music Festival August 20th at 2:10 – 2:40 p.m. on the legendary Roxy stage!

The only way to sum up this insanely talented band is this…..

“Queen Caveat has tapped into a vain of music that has yet to be discovered by any other artist.”

Hands down my favorite new artist, and a breath of fresh air.

I shot them last year at the Viper Room at SSMF 2010. Check out the pics from their performance by CLICKING HERE

Check them out on facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/QueenCaveat

About Queen Caveat:

Queen Caveat has exploded onto the LA rock scene in 2010 following the release of their debut EP, “Emptor”. This hard-hitting four-piece, led by maniacal, ferocious frontwoman Lauren Little, has been quick to turn the heads of rock fans throughout the west coast on the strength of their infectious anthems, unrivaled musicianship, and riotous – and sometimes downright dangerous – stage show. Their explosive headlining performance at the Viper Room during 2010′s Sunset Strip Music Festival had fans, bloggers, and club owners buzzing for months afterward. Their live show and hard work ultimately earned them the nomination and votes as one of the Deli Magazines Best Emerging LA Artist’s of 2010.

Formed only nine months ago and already the progenitors shaping the “LA Rock” sound, expect more big things to come in 2011 from the band the LA Examiner calls “one of LA’s – and America’s – very best upcoming rock bands.

Queen Caveat is endorsed by D’Addario and Evans Drum heads

“If you don’t like the groove of Slightly Stoopid, then you don’t like MUSIC! This band has a world all it’s own that everyone should visit.” -Rob Fenn

Learn more about Slightly Stoopid at http://www.slightlystoopid.com

About Slightly Stoopid:

With more than a decade of making music together, the members of Slightly Stoopid have perfected one of the rarest and most valuable skills a band can develop: the art of the stealth groove, that knack for quietly, almost innocently, sliding into a composition, and utterly lassoing anyone within earshot by mid-song. That’s where the band has come to reside, musically: deep in the pocket, that ever-elusive, funky trench where a band can entrance an audience, hypnotize it and hold on to it until the set or CD is finished. Built on a bedrock of nasty, oceanic slabs of dubby bass, meditative vocal harmonies, rock-steady guitar licks and tightly syncopated percussive rhythms, Slightly Stoopid illustrate a case study in underground success, steeped in years of hard touring, an improvisational business model, and a creative process that continues to unwind and push the envelope of a new jam-based genre the band helped to create.

Slightly Stoopid’s dual front-men Miles Doughty (Guitar, Bass, Vocals) and Kyle McDonald (Guitar, Bass, Vocals), created their own label, Stoopid Records, in the early 2000’s to avoid signing a record deal and keep their DIY work ethic and freedom away from music industry politics. The west coast sound pioneers later added musicians Ryan ‘RyMo’ Moran (Drums) and Oguer ‘OG’ Ocon (Congas, Percussion, Harp, Vocals) from the B Side Players, as well as C-Money (Trumpet, Keyboard) and Dela (Saxophone) from John Browns Body; solidifying their on stage line up. Slightly Stoopid has built a large n’ loyal fan base, and has soared to one of the most successful independent artists of this decade. The buzz surrounding the group continues to increase with each successive release; their album catalog sales have topped the 700,000 mark and the group continues to fill the most prestigious concert venues around the world, and continues to create a legion of “stoopidheads” in the process!

Sully came out and let the crowd know how the night was going to be, no fancy stage show, no pyro, just the crowd, and Godsmack playing kick ass rock n roll!

That is exactly what they did in Denver at KBPI’s Birthday Bash / Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival! Godsmack threw down the music and the crowd picked it up, over and over! When I was at Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville, FL on Mother’s Day this year Godsmack was headlining that show, and it gave you chills to hear the crowd sing along to Voodoo. In Denver, same thing, the crowd was singing along to every word!

My first KBPI Birthday Bash was 11 years ago with Godsmack at Red Rocks Amphitheater, and not much has changed, KBPI throws one hell of a party and still is one of the heaviest rock stations in the country, and Godsmack still has a live show that any music fan can appreciate.

About Godsmack:

In February of 1995, after being behind the drums for more than 23 years, Sully Erna decided to start a new band. It was only a matter of time before he realized he needed to take charge and step out from behind the kit to front the band himself. Learn more here

First off let me say, I realize the is not one pic of Machine Head’s bass player Adam Duce, This was unavoidable since security escorted the photographers out of the pit after the first song. Normally it is three, but a security guard mis understood the rules. He did however realize it was three songs and let everyone in, but by this time I was a fan watching the insanity of a Machine Head bitch slap!

What an amazing and heavy live performance! I have been a fan since Burn My Eyes, but I have never got to see the live show. Something has always came up with work and I never have was able to go see the performance. I have even been in the same venue as them but missed their set! (This is the same for me with the Red Hot Chili Peppers too!) So Sunday at Mayhem I didn’t care what was going on I was seeing Machine Head tear it up!

Their live show didn’t disappoint and was every shred of insanity I had hoped for. That also goes for the rest of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival! What a great line up! Learn more at their website http://rockstarmayhemfest.com/

Check out Machine Head’s official website at http://www.MachineHead1.com/

Before the show I was lucky enough to hang out with Phil and grab a video of him talking about his favorite record store experience for a new feature ‘on the road……. Where MUSIC Lives’ does called, “on RECORD with _______” A big thanks to <a href="http://mobile.jvc.com/index.jsp"target="_blank">Chad Vogelsong of JVC Mobile for making this feature possible \m/
